skype reference and the future of libraries conference

In a lucky coincidence yesterday while staffing our Skype call-in reference service I received a call from one (extremely nice) Paul Signorelli of the San Francisco Public Library who was doing some investigating into libraries and Skype/internet telephony experimentation. The upshot of this productive conversation is that I will be participating remotely in a panel discussion titled “Services Without Sites: When Fingertips-to-Fingertips Augments Face-to-Face” at the upcoming Future of Libraries conference at the San Francisco Public Library, September 26, 2007. Sarah Houghton-Jan of Librarian in Black will be moderating the panel and has this to say about the event.

Take a look at a presentation I gave on Video IM reference at ACRL this year – I’ll be talking about our updated uses of Skype calling and video reference.
